HM Cragg has grown since it was incorporated in 1968 and continues to thrive as an employee-owned company. Our product base has expanded delivering an innovative and complex level of value-added services.
| 1968 | In September of 1968 Harold M. Cragg went into business as a Manufacturer’s Rep for American Monarch and LaMarche. The company began selling C&D Standby & Motive Power batteries and products out of a small shared warehouse space in southeast Minneapolis. |
| 1968 | Later that year Bill Ruva joined Harold Cragg and they brought K.W. Batteries and Hertner Chargers on as additional vendors. |
| 1969 | HM Cragg was incorporated. |
| 1970 | HM Cragg obtained exclusive C&D product line and dropped all others. |
| 1977 | Roger Blenkush was hired as a salesman and is still with HM Cragg today in Standby Sales. |
| 1977 | Dale Jones was hired as a salesman and is still with HM Cragg today in Sales and 3-phase UPS. |
| 1981 | Began selling Anderson Power Products, Curtis Instruments, and MTC (Sackett). |
| 1985 | Entered the UPS market by selling Exide Electronics product (later bought out by Powerware and then Eaton) |
| 1987 | Harold Cragg formed two additional companies—DC Batteries and Cragg Railcharger. |
| 1988 | Harold Cragg sold majority of company stock to Ben Platter. |
| 1990 | Main product lines were C&D and Exide Electronics. Launched UPS battery inspections business. |
| 1995 | Began providing standby installation service for utility companies. |
| 1996 | Added United Power, Emergency Lighting, and F.W. Dodge. |
| 1997 | Performed Motive Power inspections. |
| 1998 | Accepted Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Ben Platter sold company to employees. |
| 2000 | Added PDI product line. |
| 2002 | Added Edison Minit-Charger line. |
| 2004 | Sold Motive Power Division. |
| 2004 | Moved to our current location at 7674 Washington Avenue South in Eden Prairie. |
| 2006 | Added additional warehouse space in Eden Prairie. |
| 2006 | Became Master Distributor for Eaton Corp. |
| 2007 | External Board members retained in addition to internal Board members |
| 2008 | Added new product lines from Eaton Electrical, MGE, Acumentrics, Myers Power Products, Accratech, Airrex, Oneac, Packet Power, and Rittal. |
| 2009 | Added East Coast distribution center in Raleigh, NC. |
| 2009 | Added Eaton ePDU line (formerly Pulizzi). Opened an additional office in Sioux Falls, SD. |
| 2010 | Dropped Anderson Power Products line. |
