HM Cragg is Now a Registered ETL/UL508a Industrial Controls Panel Builder
HM Cragg can now officially label our Integrated enclosure builds as certified “ETL-Listed Systems following the UL 508a Standard.” We’ve always used UL Listed and Recognized components in our builds (Eaton UPS’ for example are Listed under UL1778). The difference is now we can list the entire assembly. In order to do that we’re required to provide significantly more documentation around our processes and procedures: engineer, specify, assemble and integrate following the UL Standard and submit to quarterly drop-in inspections by Intertek to ensure we are in compliance.
This initiative brings a new level of rigor into our integration solutions around quality assurance for every step in the project cycle:
- Specification using only accepted components
- Assembly, wiring and integration using only accepted materials, methods and procedures
- Calculation of SCCR
- Inspection, testing and reporting in order to provide the most reliable solution for your customer’s application
The 508a Standard is extremely flexible and gives HM Cragg broad discretion on enclosure design and component use. It’s the listing that addresses the majority of applications our team has seen in our integration projects. UPSs, enclosures, power distribution and wiring devices are all recognized in the standard.
This new capability opens the door to potential customers in entirely new markets and verticals in the industrial space—any discrete or continuous process manufacturer, in any industry, uses control panels. We’re hopeful you’ll be able to use this capability somewhere in your businesses.
