The new Eaton® ePDU® G3 platform provides best-in-class power distribution, enabling data center and information technology (IT) managers to effectively monitor and manage their rack environments. Featuring Eaton’s third-generation (G3) ePDU technology, G3 is easy to install and reduces operating costs while increasing reliability. With a host of unique and state-of-the-art features for Basic, Metered Input and Managed ePDUs, G3 sets the standard for power management in a wide range of key applications ranging from small/medium businesses to enterprise data centers.

Eaton ePDU G3 features and benefits

Key applications: Designed for the IT environment, G3 ePDU is available in a variety of configurations including both 120 and 200- 240 volt. Power distribution designed to properly connect servers, switches and other equipment.

Outlet grip plug retention: Eaton's new patented IEC outlet grip plugs into place with a lever actuated grip integrated into each outlet. This feature secures plugs, preventing accidental disconnect and eliminating the need for special power cords.

Billing grade accuracy: Monitor with higher accuracy with G3 one percent revenue-grade power monitoring.

Color coded outlet sections: G3 color-coded sections match corresponding circuit breakers, allowing for quick and easy identification of feeds and preventing unbalanced loading.

Advanced LCD pixel display: Simplify local setup and troubleshooting with the new ePDU G3 LCD display: view voltage, power, total input, and meters and alarm history. The convenient menu-driven display changes from blue to amber in alarm situations.

Hot-swap eNMC module: Increase uptime and improve serviceability. New hot-swap eNMC (ePDU Network Management and Control) module can be replaced without powering down the rack.

Low profile form factor: New G3 width for Basic and Metered ePDUs is optimized for side mounting, bringing zero interference to the rail space. Low-profile circuit breakers in some models reduce interference when mounted with outlets facing the rail (rack center).

High operating temperature: G3 ePDU models function in environments up to 140°F (60°C), reducing cooling costs. 

Daisy chain four units from one IP address: Eaton's new  daisy chain is available on all network connected G3 ePDUs, allowing for up to 4 ePDUs to share the same newtork connection and IP address. 

Ease of installation: Clip feet allow for a variety of mounting methods, mounting buttons are pre-installed, and optional side- mounting button locations are available for a 90-degree rotation in the rack.

Network-Management

The advanced network capabilities of the G3 platform allow you to monitor multiple ePDUs through Eaton’s power monitoring solutions. In addition, G3 has built-in support for third-party data center infrastructure management (DCIM) solutions by using SNMP v3 to communicate securely to each ePDU.

Environmental Monitoring

G3 ePDU environmental

The optional environmental monitoring probe connects to the serial port and enables you to collect temperature and humidity readings in the rack environment to monitor environmental data remotely. You can also monitor the status of two contact closure devices, such as door switches.
